The People
To the people and businesses in Florida, the CAFTA countries are hardly foreign. They are, in fact, more than just neighbors. To much of the Florida population, they are family. There are some 100,000 Florida residents who were born in the Dominican Republic, the fourth largest population in the U.S. Another 320,000 of the Latino population of Florida is from Central America. Of the total Central American population in the United States, 12 percent live in Florida. Combined with other Spanish speakers, about four million Floridians speak the language of the CAFTA countriesan invaluable business asset.
Floridas bi-lingual population, cultural and family connections to the Dominican Republic and Central America, represent an important resource for any company planning to do business in the CAFTA countries.
