Floridas burgeoning entertainment industry, much of it targeting Latino markets, are benefiting from CAFTA not only in terms of increased market access, but stronger copyright protections. Market access for U.S. films and television programs over a variety of media including cable, satellite, and the Internet are increasing with the agreement. Importantly, this increased access is accompanied by state-of-the-art intellectual property protections that prohibit the unauthorized receipt or distribution of encrypted satellite signals, thus preventing piracy of satellite television programming. The agreement also provides for non-discriminatory treatment for digital products such as U.S. software, music, text, and videos. |
